Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to receive, collect, organise and apply workplace information in the context of an organisation’s work processes, record managing and knowledge management systems.The unit applies to those who perform a defined range of skilled operations in various work contexts. They may exercise discretion and judgement using appropriate knowledge of information management to provide technical advice and support to a team.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Skills in this unit must be demonstrated in a workplace or simulated environment where the conditions are typical of those in a working environment in this industry.

This includes access to:

organisational policies and procedures relevant to workplace information

examples of information documents found in the workplace.

Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational education and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

use business technology to coordinate information

communicate with relevant stakeholders to obtain and check workplace information

monitor, review and modify information organisation processes.

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

methods for checking information is clear, accurate, current and relevant for purpose

organisational policies and procedures relating to workplace information

features and functions of technology required to store and organise information.

Assessment Tasks
